	The Painful Process As some of you know I am in the process of building a new home. Because my father & brothers are all in the construction field, my husband and I decided to act as general contactors with their guidance. Welcome to the world of residential construction! It has it's own rules and regulations. It is a world of unanswered phone calls (hundreds and hundreds of unanswered phone calls), 3 hour days, 2 day work weeks, and the most wonderful assortment of excuses you will ever hear! "I can't work today because there are clouds in the sky and it might rain tomorrow." "I won't be in for the next 3 days because tomorrow is the day before a holiday and then it's a holiday and the day after a holiday." "I don't want the job because I'm too busy..." "the job is too small..." "too big..." "I'm not taking the job because I've been offered more money" "I promise this time... " I'll show up tomorrow, next week, next month....." and on and on.... There is also tremendous joy and excitement in small things like pouring the foundation, lumber being delivered, walls going up, windows installed and guys working!
